This policy was introduced in 2010 by ECFMG<sup>\u00ae<\/sup>, now a division of Intealth, and later known as \u201c2023 Accreditation.\u201d While the policy has evolved over time, Intealth&#8217;s commitment to fostering global accreditation efforts and to promoting harmonized standards for evaluating undergraduate medical education worldwide remains constant.<\/p>\n<p>When implementation begins late next year, it will consist of <strong>reporting<\/strong> which medical schools meet the requirements of the policy, as described below. <strong>It will not impact an individual\u2019s eligibility for ECFMG Certification.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>What Will Change:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>If a medical school meets the requirements of the Recognized Accreditation Policy, a notation will be added to the:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>School\u2019s listing in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wdoms.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>World Directory of Medical Schools<\/em><\/a> <i class=\"fas fa-external-link-alt\" aria-hidden=\"true\"><\/i>.<\/li>\n<li>ECFMG Status Reports for students and graduates of that school who apply to U.S. graduate medical education programs through the Electronic Residency Application Service<sup>\u00ae<\/sup> (ERAS<sup>\u00ae<\/sup>) and similar application services.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>What Will <em>Not<\/em> Change:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Implementation in late 2024 will not affect:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>An individual\u2019s eligibility for ECFMG Certification. International medical students and graduates (IMGs) can continue to apply for and pursue ECFMG Certification, <strong>even if <\/strong><strong>their <\/strong><strong>medical school currently does not meet the requirements of the policy. <\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Medical school eligibility for an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ecfmg.org\/resources\/sponsor-notes.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ECFMG Sponsor Note<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Users of other ECFMG services, such as EPIC.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Detailed information on the Recognized Accreditation Policy is available at\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ecfmg.org\/accreditation\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">www.ecfmg.org\/accreditation<\/a>.
