ECFMG\u00ae<\/sup>, a division of Intealth\u2122<\/sup>, has redesigned the ECFMG Certificate awarded to international medical graduates (IMGs) who successfully complete ECFMG\u2019s program of certification<\/a>. The new design aligns the look of the ECFMG Certificate with the Intealth identity and represents another step in our ongoing business transformation. Issuance of the newly designed certificates began in late February. While the ECFMG Certificate has a new look, there are no changes to the accomplishment it represents or to the information included on the certificate. The requirements for ECFMG Certification remain the same, providing assurance to the U.S. public and graduate medical education (GME) community that IMGs are ready to participate in U.S. GME, where they provide supervised patient care.<\/p>\n

The redesign of the ECFMG Certificate has no effect on the validity of ECFMG Certificates issued previously. Redesigned certificates will not be issued to individuals who already have a certificate.<\/p>\n

Organizations with an interest in ECFMG Certification can verify an IMG\u2019s ECFMG certification status using our Certification Verification Service (CVS)<\/a>. CVS provides primary-source confirmation of ECFMG certification status to U.S. residency\/fellowship programs, state licensing authorities, credential verification organizations, hospitals, and other organizations. CVS reports are provided at no cost to U.S. residency\/fellowship programs.<\/p>\n

    ECFMG is now a division of Intealth<\/a>, a private, nonprofit organization created by ECFMG and FAIMER. Since becoming part of Intealth, ECFMG has updated its website, brochures, and other materials to align with the Intealth identity. The ECFMG Certificate is one of many items we are updating.<\/p>\n

      They are different in appearance only. Both certificates include the same information and represent completion of the same requirements.<\/p>\n
