Intealth\u2122<\/sup> is pleased to announce its collaboration with the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) and the Medical Council of Canada (MCC) to explore innovative approaches to assessing internationally trained physicians (ITPs) seeking to practice in Canada through the MCC’s Practice-Ready Assessment (PRA) program.<\/p>\n

While traditional assessments of medical knowledge remain essential, this partnership emphasizes the need to evaluate a broader range of clinical competencies to support ITPs in their transition to practice. These competencies are vital to ensuring ITPs are equipped to provide effective patient care in their communities.<\/p>\n

This cross-border collaboration seeks to improve assessment practices that address the needs of both Canadian and U.S. health care systems while meeting the evolving demands of patient care. Building on 20 years of collective research in clinical assessment, the partnership aims to provide insights into shaping the future of competency-based evaluations, ensuring high-quality and safe care for patients.<\/p>\n

Leaders from the three organizations reached a significant milestone in Nashville, Tennessee, on February 20, 2025, where they signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). This MOU represents a shared commitment to strengthening workplace-based assessments of physicians through shared learning. The agreement underscores a collective goal to enhance medical training and physician competency while safeguarding public health. The signing ceremony took place during the 2025 ACGME Annual Educational Conference and was attended by ACGME President and CEO Debra Weinstein, MD; Intealth President and CEO Eric S.
