Intealth, in partnership with the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) and with funding in part by the U.S. Department of State, is pleased to introduce the J-1 Physician Well-being Module. This free new resource was created to directly address the unique challenges and opportunities of foreign national physicians training in U.S. graduate medical education (GME) programs and offers tailored strategies for building resilience, navigating institutional systems, and promoting overall well-being.
Created from recordings from a well-being seminar for J-1 physicians that Intealth and ACGME co-hosted in November 2023, the module features video presentations from leaders in academic medicine, well-being specialists, and three J-1 physicians who led grant-winning well-being projects at their training institutions. The module also includes downloadable worksheets, reports, and other resources.
Well-being is critical to the ability of physician trainees to learn effectively and to provide quality care to patients. This collaborative effort between Intealth and ACGME underscores our shared commitment to advancing the quality of health care education and enhancing the well-being of our physician workforce. This well-being initiative also aligns with Intealth’s focus on supporting international medical graduates in their pursuit of GME in the United States.
We invite foreign national physicians, training program teams, and others interested in promoting a culture of physician well-being and creating inclusive, supportive learning environments to explore the module and share it within your communities.
The module is available at www.ecfmg.org/evsp/modules/physician-well-being/index.html.
