Intealth™ Board Elects New Trustees for 2025

Intealth recently elected seven new members to serve on its Board of Trustees. The new members joining Intealth’s Board in 2025 include five trustees, who will serve four-year terms, and two resident trustees, who will serve two-year terms. The selection of new trustees follows an open call for nominations that concluded in July.

“The new trustees will bring a wealth of additional expertise and diversity to Intealth’s Board,” said Peter Buckley, MD, Chair of Intealth’s Board of Trustees, adding, “The perspectives of the IMGs and residents represented are a critical complement to our existing governance body.”

The September Board of Trustees meeting also marked the final Board meeting for Barbara Barzansky, PhD, MHPE, and Debra F. Weinstein, MD, who are concluding their terms at the close of this year. “On behalf of the Board, we thank Drs. Barzansky and Weinstein for their years of dedication to Intealth,” said Eric S. Holmboe, MD, President and CEO of Intealth. “Their experience and expertise have been essential in guiding the organization through a period of transformation and challenges, including the ongoing effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.”

The new trustees, whose terms begin January 1, 2025, are:

Steven V. Angus, MD, FACP

Dr. Angus is Assistant Dean for Graduate Medical Education, Vice Chair for Education and Professor of the Department of Medicine, and Designated Institutional Official at the University of Connecticut School of Medicine. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Yale University, earned his medical degree from Ross University, and completed his internal medicine residency, including a Chief year, at the University of Connecticut. Dr. Angus has more than 20 years of educational leadership experience and has achieved accreditation for multiple educational programs. His research interests include the transition from undergraduate to graduate medical education, and he is a former Chair of the Alliance for Academic Internal Medicine’s Medical Student to Residency Interface Committee. Additionally, Dr. Angus serves on the Association of American Medical Colleges’ (AAMC’s) Council of Faculty and Academic Societies Administrative Board, the Steering Committee of the AAMC’s Group on Resident Affairs, and the Connecticut Chapter of the American College of Physicians’ Governor’s Council.

Nitin Jain, MD, MSPH

Dr. Jain is Chair and James W. Rae Collegiate Professor of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and Professor of Orthopedic Surgery at the University of Michigan Medical School. He earned his medical degree at the Baroda Medical College of Maharaja Sayajirao University in India and holds a master’s degree in public health from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Following a research fellowship in sports medicine and orthopedics at Duke University and a research fellowship in epidemiology and outcomes at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Dr. Jain completed a residency in physical medicine and rehabilitation at Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital at Harvard Medical School. He also received advanced training in shoulder surgery through a fellowship at Harvard Shoulder Service. His clinical and research activities focus on shoulder pain and rotator cuff tears, knee pain, and non-operative sports medicine. He is a Co-Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of the International Society of Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine (JISPRM) and Associate Editor for the Journal of Shoulder and Elbow Surgery.

Sailaja Pindiprolu, MD, FACP

Dr. Pindiprolu is Associate Dean for Medical Education at Georgetown University MedStar Washington Hospital Center in Washington, DC. She is also an Associate Designated Institutional Official and Program Director for the internal medicine residency program at MedStar Washington Hospital Center. She earned her undergraduate and medical degrees at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine and completed the Yale Internal Medicine Primary Care Program, where she served an additional year as Chief Resident. Her research interests include safety and quality in patient care and clinical training. As the Program Director for a university-affiliated, community-based internal medicine program, Dr. Pindiprolu has more than two decades of experience working closely with IMGs.

Dario Torre, MD, PhD, MPH

Dr. Torre is Professor of Medicine and Director of Programs of Assessment at the University of Central Florida College of Medicine in Orlando, Florida. Dr. Torre received his medical degree from the University of Rome Medical School “La Sapienza” in Italy and completed his internal medicine residency at Drexel University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He completed a general internal medicine research fellowship at the Johns Hopkins University in Maryland, where he earned a master’s degree in public health. Additionally, he holds a doctorate in adult and continuing education with an emphasis on health profession education from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Dr. Torre’s research interests include programmatic assessment, its theoretical foundations and implementation, teaching and assessment of clinical reasoning, and the use of concept maps in health profession education. He currently serves as Associate Editor for Teaching and Learning in Medicine, Medical Teacher, and Diagnosis.

Venice M. VanHuse, MPA

Ms. VanHuse is Vice President of Graduate Medical Education and Academic Affairs at Northwell Health in New York and Assistant Professor in the Department of Science Education at the Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell. As Institutional Coordinator for the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME), Ms. VanHuse oversees compliance with accreditation requirements for graduate medical education and strategic processes to enhance the learning environment. She holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Wagner College and a master’s in public administration from Long Island University. Ms. VanHuse serves on the board of the Association for Hospital Medical Education (AHME), is a member of its Executive Committee and Council of Institutional Leadership, and is Editor-in-Chief of AHME News. Previously, she served as AHME’s President and Chair of its Academic Leadership Planning Development Committee.

RESIDENT TRUSTEES

Sepideh Allahdadian, MD

Dr. Allahdadian is a third-year neurology resident at Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center. She is currently training on a dual research and clinical educator track, balancing ongoing research, teaching, and leadership. Her interests include the intersection of research with clinical applications and teaching excellence. She aims to drive innovation in neurological research and education while mentoring the next generation of health care professionals. Dr. Allahdadian completed medical training in Iran before immigrating to Canada, where she participated in a postdoctoral research fellowship. Her postdoctoral research concentrated on uncovering compensatory mechanisms in Parkinson’s disease and contributed to the development of early diagnostic tools. In 2024, she was recognized as a Stroke Champion, highlighting her commitment to advancing stroke care in clinical practice and through educational initiatives.

Ricardo A. Serrano, MD, MBA, MSc

Dr. Serrano is a third-year psychiatry resident at the Indiana University School of Medicine, where he is part of the Global Health Pathway and researches substance use disorders in pregnant women in South America. He completed medical school and a previous psychiatry residency at the University of Chile. After his training in Chile, he practiced in a variety of health care settings, including service as an emergency psychiatrist in one of the largest public hospitals in Santiago, Chile, and, during the COVID-19 pandemic, as the only psychiatrist on Easter Island, where he led the mental health response. Dr. Serrano pursued a Global Master of Business Administration and also earned a Master of Science in Healthcare Management from the University of Rochester, New York. He serves as co-chair of Indiana University School of Medicine’s Multicultural Physicians’ Alliance and the Latinx Association of Residents and Fellows. Dr. Serrano has been nominated for the Gold Humanism Honor Society and is a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society.
