Intealth to Observe IMG Well-being Day on May 29, Highlighting New Resources for Training Programs and IMG Trainees

Intealth® will observe IMG Well‑being Day on Friday, May 29, 2026, marking the second year of the national day of recognition dedicated to supporting and celebrating international medical graduates (IMGs) in U.S. graduate medical education (GME). The day reflects Intealth’s ongoing commitment to IMG well‑being and to strengthening the training environments in which IMGs learn and practice.

For 2026, Intealth has published a set of updated and new resources for training programs and IMG trainees, available on the IMG Well‑being Day page. Among the featured resources is Transition to Residency & Beyond (T2R), Intealth’s digital resource hub offering free learning modules, a medical terminology glossary, and well‑being resources designed to help incoming IMG trainees feel more confident and prepared as they begin training in the United States. Also new this year is an “intentional check‑in” guide developed for program leaders and faculty, offering guidance on brief, supportive conversations with IMG residents and fellows.

Additional resources include a welcome guide template, a WhatsApp group setup guide for peer connection, customizable social media templates, and a downloadable flyer — all designed to help programs recognize and support IMG trainees in ways that fit their local context.

This year also features a new entry in Intealth’s Journeys in Medicine blog, in which pediatric resident Dr. Belinda Kwartemaa Nti reflects on how her program observed IMG Well‑being Day and what it meant to feel recognized as an IMG trainee.

IMG Well‑being Day is part of a broader portfolio of Intealth initiatives focused on IMG well‑being in GME, including an annual well‑being survey of J‑1 physicians and the Intealth Well‑being Grant Opportunity. In 2025, Intealth welcomed Catherine Apaloo, MD as Chief IMG Experience Officer, further expanding the organization’s capacity to support IMGs across the continuum of training.

Training programs, IMG physicians, and GME stakeholders are invited to visit the IMG Well‑being Day page for resources and information on how to observe the day.
